London 2012 Olympics: Football Betting

28 May

The European Championships maybe the major football tournament taking place this summer but it’s certainly not the only sporting event taking place. The 2012 London Olympics will take place this summer as all eyes with be on the greatest sporting show on earth

Stuart Pearce has been given the honour of leading Team GB’s football team and the form England captain would love to win a gold medal in his own country. It’s an historic moment for Great Britain to field a team with players from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales something which the home nations were and still are opposed to as they fear FIFA may make them play as Great Britain at major football events.

Stuart Pearce will need to pick 18 players of which 15 will need to be under 23, this allows him 3 players that can be over the age of 23 and with the media speculating Pearce could well pick former England captain and national treasure David Beckham who has stated his desire to represent Great Britain at the Olympics. Pearce is also likely to include Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey who has also stated his interest in playing for the former Manchester City manager despite the Welsh FA disapproval

The Brazilians come into the tournaments favourites understandably so with the talent they have available to them. Spain are 2nd favourites to bring back the gold, whilst Team GB are 3rd favourites at 7.5 to win gold in front of their own fans.

It should be a fantastic atmosphere at the games and with so much young talent on show there are sure to be scouts from all over the world looking to spot the next big thing. The only issue is there will be some players missing from the tournament due to the European Championships taking place in Ukraine and Poland but that will still not detract from what should be an amazing Olympics.

Betting Tips: We suggest backing Team GB to win gold at 7.5 which is fantastic price consider every match will be like a home game.
