3 Jun

It has been a very turbulent week for the Italian football: first the Azzurri were unable to play in Parma as an earthquake struck the city, than a fresh betting scandal went public which did involved many Italian international players. The match that didn’t go ahead was against Luxembourg and that was cancelled due to safety measures.

Fresh gossip have also emerged about illegal betting with names like Christian Vieri and Antonio Conte also included in the investigation. Criscito, who was due to play at Euro 2012, was told to leave the group so that he can focus on defending himself from the accusations. It is going to be very interesting to see how this story develops as Leonardo Bonucci and Gianluigi Buffon are also marginally involved.

In other international friendlies Spain continued their positive run with a 4-1 win over South Korea. Even if the Spanish didn’t had the full squad at their disposals they were able to win without problems and looked impressive once again. Santi Cazorla managed to score in the second net in a row and Fernando Torres is also finding the right form. Other goals came from Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Negredo.
Sweden managed to win against Iceland for 3-2. It was a good performance for the Swedes with Zlatan Ibrahimovic who looked impressive and in fantastic form. England will have to be very careful with Sweden as they are a team capable of upsetting the odds.

Finally, Holland managed to win a victory but there are still concerns ahead of Euro 2012 as Wesley Sneijder got an injury who have cast some doubts over his ability to start in Euro 2012.
