Manchester United Debt Burden Weighing Heavy on Fans

31 Jul

Manchester United have been owned by their American paymasters the Glazer’s for a good few years now and in that time there’s been a lot of dissent from a good section of the dedicated Manchester United fans mainly over the level of debt that has been placed onto the club in order to finance the purchase of the club for the American owners. The interest on the debt has been questioned and been seen by many fans as a burden that has been borne by the club in order for the owners to actually afford to buy the club in the first place. Of course this is how a lot of business works and is a credit to the way the club is being run that they can afford to service this debt and still make money and grow the business.

Manchester City must spend big to have a chance this season

30 Jul

There is an old saying in football that as soon as you stand still, you start to go backwards. Roberto Mancini said exactly that today and tried to pass the message to the fans and the club that last season was won at the last minute and that they haven’t got a huge gap to defend: they hardly have a gap at all if you considered the stream of disgruntled fans walking out early because they tough that Man City would have blown the title in the match against QPR. Roberto Mancini have the right experience to understand that if winning is difficult, defending titles is much more complicated than that.

Football Betting: Norwich to be relegated from the Premier League

28 Jul

Looking at last year’s Premier League table we can see that Norwich finished behind Swansea on goal difference alone however they haven’t received quite as much credit as the stylish Welsh side. Even if we look at what happened to their manager we can see that if Brendan Rodgers was able to land the Liverpool job, his colleague Paul Lambert only got Aston Villa’s vacancy. Swansea also attracted the attention of Michael Laudrup who saw that position as very fashionable whilst Norwich only attracted a Championship manager like Chris Hughton who underachieved last season with Birmingham.

Football Betting: Chelsea shopping in Brazil

26 Jul

After winning the Champions League last season, Chelsea have invested heavily this summer to improve their squad and try to close the gap with the two Manchester sides in the Premier League. The Blues have focused on Brazil that not surprisingly is the nation that are the best youngsters at the moment. They have reported to have paid £25 million for the attacking midfielder Oscar and this is a remarkable amount of money if you consider that he is still 20 years old and only made his debut with the Selecao last September.

Championship Betting: Outright

25 Jul

I was able to pick Reading at 18.0 to win last season and I have managed to cash in a decent amount so I though to try this again. When you bet on outright it is important that you get on it early so that you are able to get good value. This season the Championship should be wide open. Last season it was clear to see that some of the relegated teams stand out as ‘good things’ to go straight up and this doesn’t seem to be the case this term. If we take a quick look at the winner market we can see exactly how open this season promises to be as we have only marginal favourites.
