Where will van Persie go next? Betting Tip

Arsenal’s Robin van Persie has made a statement indicated he will not sign another contract at the Gunners when his existing deals expires at the end of the new season. The decision was made after a dicussion with Ivan Gazidis and Arsene Wenger regarding the club’s future

Van Persie gave his reason for not signing a new deal with the club that finished 3rd in the Premier League last season as a difference in where they though the club should be heading. The north London club’s top goalscorer van Persie will be free to discuss a new contact with clubs as his current deal means he will be a free agent at the end of next season.

Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal board will now need to make a decision on whether they should make as much money on the player this summer or lose him next summer for nothing. This is another dent in Wenger defiance for making sure the club sticks to his guns with regards to its transfer policy.

Arsenal did make their own statement in response to van Persie anouncement and have stated that they respect their captain’s decision and expect him to see out the rest of his current deal.

It’s another blow for Arsenal who have already lost key players in recent years for a seeming lack of desire to win trophies and compete with Europe’s best side. Arsenal lost Clicy, Fabregas and Nasri last season and will need to make sure the same doesn’t keep happening or risk attracking big names to north London.

Arsene Wenger may tried to pursuade the Dutch international to stay at Arsenal when he returns from his holiday in the US but it’s unlikely to have an impact on player who seems set to leave Arsenal for pastures new.

Arsene Wenger signed van Persie 8 years ago for a small fee of £2.75million but risks losing the Premier League top scorer for nothing after 8 fantastic years of service.

There are a few clubs that are lined up to take the Dutchman the leading being Manchester City who have already been busy in recent years poaching Arsenal players including Adebayor, Toure, Clicy and Nasri. City would see van Persie as the type of player that could help them lift the champions league.

Juventus have had an £8 million bid turned down for the striker but it’s looks like Turin is a likely destination for a player yet to play in Italian football. The bookmakers are offering odds of 9/2 that van Persie’s next club is Juventus which looks like great value
